Personal training

Want to feel healthy and strong, but don’t think exercise is for you? Maybe even a bit scared of exercise?

Personal training might be the answer.

I’m in my forties and until 3 years ago, I didn’t exercise and felt that endorphins were an urban myth, made up to try and con people into getting fit. Now I love exercising and my body shape has completely changed. I feel healthier and stronger and I’m confident in what my body can do and learn to do.

I’m now a personal trainer and coach. I’m passionate about creating personalised workouts for my clients. We’ll work together to figure out what you want to achieve and what you enjoy doing. I can then create a fun, varied exercise programme designed specifically for your level of fitness, whatever that may be. We’ll link your programme to your goals and lifestyle, to make exercising consistently easier and allow me to vary what we’re doing to prevent you from getting bored.

With an ILM qualification in coaching and mentoring and my Active IQ Levels 2 and 3 in personal training, I’m uniquely equipped to help you reach your health and fitness goals and build your exercise confidence.

Testimonials

“Lisa has been my personal trainer since she qualified. I regularly do cardio work at the gym and go to Pilates classes but as I have got older, I am 51, I wanted to maintain my strength. I wasn’t sure where to start with this and felt very nervous about using weights as my experience has always been that this section of the gym is very male oriented. In addition I am not very co-ordinated and it can take me a while to master particular exercises.  Lisa has been brilliant. She is very patient and explains things very clearly. She has challenged me to do things outside my comfort zone but in a way that is supportive and considerate. She does give you homework ? which is good for maintaining motivation between sessions and building on the work we do when we are together. During the current lockdown she has provided virtual sessions which have kept me on track. I do feel stronger and healthier which is extremely valuable in the current climate. Lisa is the perfect trainer for those of us who feel apprehensive about undertaking exercise as she understands those feelings and works with them as opposed to against them.”

“I was fed up with feeling tired and didn’t like the fact that if I was about to hit the menopause, it would be even harder to lose weight. It was lovely to talk it through with somebody who understood my worries and fears. I am fitter. My joints don’t hurt anymore. I can walk faster and further. And I’m starting to see a change in my body shape. I feel better about myself. I’m sleeping better which in turn is helping me manage my stress better.”

Why I became a PT

You can read more about how and why I started exercising and became a PT in a blog post: We’re not in Kansas anymore or why I’ve trained to become a personal trainer.

Gym location

I work in a great gym space in Heaton Mersey. It’s fully equipped for all your exercise needs and you can shower there too if you need to. I also offer online PT sessions using Zoom, which is great because I can see my clients and they can see me demonstrating exercises.
